BUSINESS
DISTRIBUTIVE
EDUCATION
Students in this special program attend school half a day and then go to jobs. Even though the course is only three years old, it has been very successful.
Under the instruction of Mr. J. C. Calhoun, teacher-co-ordinator, the students are taken through the different phases of business in the attempt of making the students assets to their employers. D. E. students study English, marketing, economics, and art in school; on the job they receive further training in a specific job from their employers.
The first two years of this curriculum provide the opportunity for the student to take courses that would try out his ability and interest in the business field. During the third year, the first year courses in stenography and bookkeeping should enable the student to decide whether he wishes to prepare himself in the direction of secretarial work with the emphasis on stenography and typewriting, or for work based on bookkeeping.
